"Joaquim – The Conde de Ferreira and his Legacy" is an exploratory project, which combines scientific research with cultural production, formulated from the analysis of the life and work of Joaquim Ferreira dos Santos, known as Conde de Ferreira, and his legacy in contemporary times .
From humble origins, Joaquim dos Santos Ferreira emigrated to Brazil where, over the course of 12 years, he was involved in the transatlantic traffic of enslaved people, having accumulated an enormous fortune. Returning to Portugal, Joaquim dos Santos Ferreira left his entire fortune in his will for the benefit of Portuguese society, financing numerous works across the country.
As a goal, the project aims to identify and quantify the value of Joaquim dos Santos Ferreira’s legacy in Portugal using Information Visualization.
